 EDITORIAL POLICY

Last Updated: May 2026

The Strange Archives is a long-form editorial publication. This Editorial Policy sets out the standards, practices, and principles that govern every piece of content published on this Site. We publish this policy in the interest of transparency and in compliance with the editorial standards required by our advertising partners, including Google AdSense.

OUR EDITORIAL MISSION

The Strange Archives exists to document and investigate the events the world cannot fully explain — with rigour, honesty, and the craft that serious storytelling demands. We cover true mysteries, unexplained events, vanishings, hauntings, true crime, strange science, and folklore, serving a global audience that takes the unexplained seriously.

Our commitment is to the truth of what is documented — not to what is dramatic, not to what is easy, and not to what our audience wants to hear. When the evidence is ambiguous, we say so. When a case is unsolved, we present it as unsolved. When a theory has no evidentiary support, we identify it as a theory.

CONTENT STANDARDS

Accuracy Every factual claim published in The Strange Archives is drawn from verifiable sources — historical records, court documents, official investigation reports, peer-reviewed research, published books, or credible investigative journalism. We do not publish factual claims without a source basis.

Where sources conflict, we present all credible positions. We do not suppress information that complicates a narrative in favour of a cleaner story.

Sourcing Every article published on this Site includes a Sources and Further Reading section identifying the primary sources on which the article is based. We distinguish between primary sources, secondary sources, and oral or unverified accounts. We flag the difference explicitly within our content.

Narrative Reconstruction Some articles use narrative reconstruction — a journalistic technique in which documented facts are presented in an immersive, narrative format. When this technique is used, it is clearly identified within the article. We do not invent dialogue, fabricate events, or misrepresent the documentary basis of any account. The core facts of every story are sourced.

Unverified Accounts Where folklore, oral tradition, legend, or first-person testimony that cannot be independently verified is presented, it is clearly identified as such. We do not present unverified accounts as established historical fact.

True Crime Content True crime content is handled with full respect for victims and their families. We do not sensationalise suffering, glorify perpetrators, or use graphic descriptions beyond what is necessary to document the facts of a case. Victim dignity is a non-negotiable standard on this Site. All true crime content is based on public court records, verified journalism, and official sources.

Sensitive Content Articles covering subjects that may be distressing to some readers — including homicide, disappearance, abuse, or other disturbing events — carry a Reader Discretion notice at the top of the article. This notice clearly describes the nature of the content before the reader proceeds.

EDITORIAL INDEPENDENCE

The Strange Archives maintains complete editorial independence. No advertiser, sponsor, or third party has any influence over editorial decisions, article selection, content, or conclusions.

Google AdSense advertisements are displayed on this Site. The presence of advertising has no bearing whatsoever on our editorial judgement. We do not write content to please advertisers. We do not suppress coverage of topics based on advertiser preferences. Our editorial content and our advertising are entirely separate.

We do not accept payment for editorial coverage, sponsored articles, or paid placement of any kind. If this policy changes in future, all sponsored content will be clearly and prominently labelled as such and distinguished from independent editorial content.

CORRECTIONS POLICY

We are committed to publishing accurate information and to correcting errors promptly when they are identified.

If you believe any content on this Site contains a factual error, please contact us via our Contact page, providing the article title, the specific claim you believe is inaccurate, and any supporting documentation. We investigate all correction requests seriously.

Where a factual error is verified, we will update the article promptly and add a correction notice at the bottom of the article identifying the specific change made and the date it was made. We do not silently edit factual errors. All corrections are transparent and documented.

PRIVACY AND DATA

We handle reader data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which is published separately on this Site. We do not share reader data with editorial partners or use it to influence content decisions.

AI AND CONTENT GENERATION

The Strange Archives uses AI-assisted tools as part of its content development process. All content published on this Site is reviewed, edited, and approved by the editorial team before publication. AI tools are used to assist in research, drafting, and structural development — not to replace editorial judgement, factual verification, or the human authorial voice that defines this publication. All published content reflects the editorial standards described in this policy regardless of the tools used in its production.

ADVERTISING STANDARDS

Advertisements displayed on this Site comply with Google AdSense programme policies. All advertisements are clearly distinguishable from editorial content. We do not permit deceptive advertising, misleading claims, or advertisements that conflict with the editorial values of this Site.

We do not permit advertisements for products or services that conflict with the safety and wellbeing of our readers.
